2023 Tesla Cybertruck review: Pricing, Performance, Range, specs

What is the Tesla Cybertruck?

Tesla Cybertruck review

What is Cybertruck

The Cybertruck is controversial, but that would be an exaggeration. The futuristic electric pickup truck from Tesla was a huge success when it was first announced in November 2019. The Cybertruck was a combination of wild styling, impressive range, and some truly absurd features (we’re talking about the bullet-resistant bodywork). It seemed almost too good to be true.

The current regulations do not require external mirrors. There are also no camera pods that could act as side-view mirrors. Wheel spokes extend beyond the tire sidewalls, which is not possible outside of a design studio. This is especially true for trucks where such spokes are easily ground out. It is difficult to imagine that any of these design features will ever make it into production. Elon Musk has stated that there will be modifications to the Cybertruck’s final design when it does.

We received the most recent Cybertruck update. It was a minor but important change to Tesla’s consumer website. The production start date is not yet set. There is no estimate, even if you reserve one (which still requires a $100 deposit). The Cybertruck cannot be configured. Last month, Cybertruck’s configuration text was “you will be in a position to complete your configuration when production closes in 2022.” Now, the text does not include “in 2022.” We don’t anticipate production starting until 2023.

Tesla Cybertruck Overview

Although the Tesla Cybertruck may look like an alien drop, it is capable of challenging all top-selling pickup trucks. The Tesla all-electric truck is extremely tough thanks to its sharp exterior made from scratch- and dent-resistant stainless steel. The Cybertruck is available with all-wheel drive and can tow up to 14,000 pounds. It has a 500-plus mile driving range. The most expensive model is $39,900, while the cheapest starts at $39,000. The Cybertruck’s official launch date is still unknown. Although Tesla has repeatedly delayed the production of the truck, Elon Musk, the CEO, promised on April 7th, 2022 that the truck would be available in 2023.

Tesla Cybertruck New for 2023?

What should you expect?

A crew-cab pickup for six that is roughly the same size as a Ford F-150
Launch of dual-motor and trimotor versions
Towing capacities range from 7,500 pounds (single motor) to 14,000 (tri-motor)
Range of 500 mi in the top-spec triple-motor model
The first generation of Cybertrucks is launched

Tesla has expanded its range to include the pickup truck, which is one of America’s most loved body styles. The Cybertruck has impressive stats, both for an electric vehicle and for a pickup truck. This makes it a strong seller considering how well trucks are selling in America. It will have to compete with other EVs, such as the Ford F-150 Lightning and the GMC Hummer EEV. Chevy also plans an electric Silverado within the next few years. Ram claims that it will have an -EV with a truck bed in 2024.

What is under the Cybertruck’s hood?

There will be three versions of Cybertruck: a base single-motor rear-wheel-drive, dual-motor all-wheel drive, and tri-motor multi-motor all-wheel-drive models. Although the single-motor base model will not be available until after launch, Tesla claims it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds and travel approximately 250 miles between charges. There are rumors that Tesla might drop the entry-level model. However, Musk and any Tesla spokesperson have not commented on this.

The next step is the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Tesla truck. It can accelerate to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and has a range of 300 mi. The most powerful tri-motor all-wheel-drive model has a range of 500 miles. It wouldn’t be Tesla without its head-spinning acceleration. The three-motor variant can reach 60 in just 3 seconds. We wanted an electric truck that could tow, haul, go long, and handle like a sports car. Now, we are eagerly waiting for the Cybertruck to prove it can do all of this.

Tesla Cybertruck EV Motor and Power

Cybertrucks can be equipped with three electric motors. The single-motor truck comes with a rear-wheel drive. However, the two-motor and three-motor models come with all-wheel drive. Tesla claims that it can go from zero to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds, and reach 110 mph at the top. According to reports, the Cybertruck’s dual motors will reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and can top out at 120 mph. The three-motor Cybertruck is the best choice for those looking for ultimate performance.

Tesla claims that it can teleport from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds (!) It can reach speeds of up to 130 mph. All Cybertrucks come with an adjustable air suspension, which can be adjusted to adjust the height and provide up to 16 inches of ground clearance. The pickup’s 35-degree approach angle and 28-degree departure angles make it a formidable off-road vehicle.

Tesla Cybertruck Towing and Payload Capacity

The Cybertruck will be able to tow more than other popular options like the Ram 1500. The single-motor and dual-motor Teslas can tow a maximum of 7500 and 10,000 lbs, respectively. However, models with a third engine will be capable of pulling a staggering 14,000 pounds. The Cybertruck can haul 3500 pounds in its cargo bed, which is 6.5 feet long.

The claimed tow ratings are from 7,500 to 14,000 pounds depending on the motor type. This is a serious capability. The claimed payload capacity of 3,500 lbs also makes it impressive.

We aren’t convinced that an all-electric pickup can tow much in real life. Why? The Model X can tow up to 5,000 lbs, but it had difficulty towing a trailer of featherweight with our long-term testing vehicle. The physical act of pulling the load was not an issue. However, range and charging will be a problem. It’s hard to imagine the range loss that will result from hauling 10,000 pounds in a Cybertruck. It’s something we will definitely test if we get one.

We can’t report Musk’s claims about the Cybertruck as real, since there hasn’t been any testing. We hope those hopes and dreams don’t exceed the 3,500-pound payload rating. Cybertruck already has plenty to carry on its long, angular shoulders.

Tesla Cybertruck Range, Charging, and Battery Life

Tesla Cybertruck Range, Charging and Tesla didn’t disclose the size of the battery packs that will power the electrified pickup. Every model will be equipped with a 250-kW charging cord. It will have access to Tesla’s extensive network of Superchargers. The range that can drive depends on how many motors are used. Tesla claims that the single motor will travel 250 miles while the dual motors have 300 miles. While the tri-motor setup with more power should go 500 miles in a single charge, the top-tier tri-motor configuration should be able to travel over 500 miles. Battery Life.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

We can only use Tesla’s initial estimates as we don’t have any official ratings. We will also need to wait until we can test Cybertruck’s ambitious maximum driving range in real life. Visit the EPA website for more information on the Cybertruck’s fuel economy.

What’s the interior comfort and cargo of the Tesla Cybertruck?

The Cybertruck’s sparse cabin will bring back those who thought that the Tesla Model 3 interior looked minimalistic. Although many options and features have not been revealed, the first images show a slab-like dashboard with one large touchscreen. Although the square-off steering wheel appears to have an illuminated display, nothing has been confirmed. The Cybertruck can also seat six people and has a cargo bed measuring 6.4 feet with 100 cubic feet. The Cybertruck also features a clever slide-out tailgate, which doubles as a ramp for loading four-wheelers or motorcycles.

The interior of Cybertruck is as wild as its exterior. It’s full of unique design cues. The cabin is spacious, with six seats below a huge panoramic sunroof. The dashboard is low and has a minimal design, with few buttons and knobs. This allows for great visibility. The large infotainment display is located front and center, as we have come to expect from Tesla. It will likely control many functions of the vehicle, including climate control, navigation, and other features. However, the steering wheel in the initial unveiling looks more like a poor video game controller.

Tesla Cybertruck Infotainment & Connectivity

The Cybertruck’s interior is largely unveiled. However, details regarding Cybertruck’s infotainment system remain largely unknown. We do know that every model will feature a large 17-inch touchscreen, which is horizontally mounted in the central part of the dashboard.

Tesla Cybertruck Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The controversial self-driving Autopilot feature will be featured on every model. Tesla also claims it will offer a full Self-Driving option starting at $7000. Other driver assistance technology will also be available. You can find more information on Cybertruck’s crash test results at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety websites.

What are the downsides of Tesla Cybertruck?

A soft body in almost all cars is important because it provides crumple zones, areas that absorb energy from a serious car crash. The crumpling acts as a pillow, but it doesn’t return to its original form because it is made from metal and not feathers. As counterintuitive as this may sound, it is usually a sign the passengers have been safe from car crashes.

The new Tesla Cybertruck is not plated with soft metal. It’s instead plated with a tougher version of stainless steel, which is bulletproof. The truck is effectively made into a tank. This might work well if assassins are targeting you, but it could be dangerous if you hit a brick wall or traffic divider at 70 mph. There is a reason that nobody has ever made a tank capable of traveling 70 mph. This is because all energy transferred to the vehicle’s fragile water bags (the human passengers) will cause them to die.

You don’t want tough armor in your consumer vehicle.

You don’t want tough armor in the vehicle of another driver.

Two normal cars collide into each other and act as one another’s crumple zones. You’ve probably seen a collision on the highway. There’s usually a slight bounce.

The Cybertruck isn’t a pillow. It’s something more difficult, such as a hand. You can try this: Have someone throw a pillow at your face and then you slap it back. What happens next? Your hand works harder than the pillow so your hand keeps going. However, the pillow is now flung back across the room. Your hand absorbs less energy than the pillow, so it takes more energy to slap.

The Cybertruck hits a soft car more than it does the Cybertruck, so the majority of the impact energy goes to the soft car. The soft car’s POV sees the impact as if it had just hit an asteroid. In addition to becoming its own crumple zone, the soft car also becomes all of Cybertruck’s crumple zones.

How much will the Tesla cyber truck cost?

The Tesla Cybertruck is priced at $39,900 USD or $53,009 Canadian Dollars. It can be pre-ordered now with a $150 CAD deposit and production is set for late 2021. Tesla claims you will be able complete your configuration as production approaches. Production of the Tri-Motor AWD is expected to begin in late 2022.

When will Tesla cyber truck be available?

The Cybertruck was initially planned to be produced by Tesla in late 2021. However, production was delayed until late 2022. Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla will not launch any cars in 2022, despite rumors that the Cybertruck was being delayed. The Cybertruck will not arrive before 2023, according to Musk.

Is the cybertruck a real truck?

The Cybertruck is unlike most modern trucks, with the exception of the Honda Ridgeline. It uses a unibody design. This simply means that the vehicle’s body is part of its chassis. These images will give you an idea about the differences.

Is the Tesla cybertruck really bulletproof?

To achieve this rating, both the glass and body panels would need to be thicker in order to resist three consecutive shots at the same place. If the company wanted the Cybertruck to meet international standards, the armor would be a significant expense and add weight.

How much does a Tesla cybertruck weigh?

Tesla Cybertruck Weighs between 5100 and 6600 pounds with minimal accessories. Depending on which variant you choose, the size of your truck will vary.
